If it is '96 or up, then it has PATS and you are in a bit of trouble. The car will have to be towed to the dealer because only the dealer can program the car to accept the computer chip that is in the handle of the new key that will have to be cut.
A true locksmith can cut the key and program it right where the car sits for 1/3 the price, but the dealerships will not tell you this.
Try every Ford key you can find if its not PATS. My husbands F-150 ford key works in the back glass of my Mercury Villager. His is a 95 mine a 93.
how much and were do you get a replacement key for a ford tarus 2003 it was the only key i had that got lost
If you have lost your key, you have to get a new ignition for the car. There is no way they can ujust give you one or make one without a copy!
The 2000 Ford Taurus does contain a transponder chip inside the key. The replacement can be programed by a locksmith or dealer service department.
I have a 96 Ford Taurus and need to get the key switch out. Please help.

2000 Ford Taurus keyless entry does notwork what could be wrong?
Ford dealership or an ACE hardware if you have one near you
Contact your local Ford dealership with details of ownership and proof of identity.Might you have locked the key fob in the trunk by accident, maybe it fell out of a pocket or something? You will have to buy a new key and fob but having your ID and proof of ownership will speed things along.
Yes, so you can't just get a new key cut at Wal-Mart
I don't think that's possible without the key.
Yes it can
If it's like my 1999 Taurus Wagon...push in the button that the key goes into
