How do install a CD player and amp in a 1983 Mercury Grand Marquis and do you have to cut the radio opening bigger to fit CD player?

most modern aftermarket CD player/stereos should fit in the original spot no problem. but most mid 80's grand marquis used a floating ground setup, so in order to hook up a new stereo you will probably have to purchase a floating ground adapter to convert the several negative speaker wires to the one negative wire in the original wiring harness, they should run you anywhere between 15-35 bucks
