There are two missiles I know of offhand known as the Javelin - one is an American made anti-armour weapons, and the other is a British antiaircraft weapon.
In the case of the anti-armour weapon, it locks on to the target's heat signature, making it a fire-and-forget weapon.
In the case of the antiaircraft weapon, it uses what's known as Semi Automatic Command toLine of Sight (SACLOS), similar in operation to weapons such as the TOW missile, where the operator must visually keep the weapon sighted onto the target until it is destroyed.
no more javelin but there's a new one called valkyrie which you can control
they actually do lock on the sun, and can be used as a trick to evade these missiles.
To lock on to many targets with the gale boomerang in twilight princess is to aim at an item you can lock on to, then press Z (for Wii. I'm not so sure for Gamecube, sorry) You can lock on to five targets at max.
the javelin can lock on to land vehicles by itself but if a teammate laser designates it, a square with a dot in the middle will appear over the chopper/jet allowing you to lock on to them with the javelin. (you can laser designate with the recons SOFLAM and with a few vehicles perks)
You can't. Grab the javelin missiles and shoot down the rocket
You don't.
Many Anti-Aircraft missiles find their targets based on heat. If an AC130 deploys flares, which are hot, the missiles follow them instead.
No u can't unless for the BTRs in MW2.
Heat seeking missiles lock on to the nearest heat source , usually its the heat from the exhaust or engines.
Guns are good for close work, guided missiles are good for long range targets.
No. Missiles gotta be able to detect planes in the radar in order get a lock on because missiles need to get a lock on to shoot down planes but planes fly in really high altitudes, this makes it even more difficult to detect planes on radar.
They could have hit targets in roughly half the territory of the 48 contiguous states.
