You would suspect the switch if when the steering is turned hard over the engine stalls or stumbles.
To definitively diagnose:You will need a scanner that will real time read what the sensors are telling the engine computer. When the switch fails to operate it will be seen on the scanner. Even then this can lead to a false diagnoses as a wiring fault could disconnect the switch from the computer. So the wiring and connections should be checked before replacement.High pressure line gets very hot.
There is a sensor on the power steering pressure hose that tells the ECM when the pressure increases which is an indication that you are turning the wheel. When the pressure goes up the ECM automatically increases the idle speed to compensate. If the pressure sensor fails then the ECM doesn't know you turned the wheels so it doesn't boost the idle speed and the engine may stall. So check the power steering pressure sensor.
I dont know try POWER STEERING FLUID
yes here are bottom of control on the steering
As far as I know, there is no filter for the power steering unit.
It is important to know where the fluid goes in a car. The power steering fluid goes in the power steering reservoir. It is under the hood of the car under the cap labeled power steering.
power seetiringpump
This is two of the things I know that could be wrong. The power steering pump is either bad or there is no power steering fluid in the pump causing it to have steering problems. Be sure to check the fluid level in the power steering pump.
Steering becomes much harder.
The pump could be making noise, or the steering may not work properly due to low fluid pressure. There could also be a pump leak, indicating a problem.
extremely hard to turn the steering wheel
As far as I know, the belt is used only for the power steering.
