You can also create your own wifi hotspot using your own computer or laptop. For this you need a connection to a network (probably your own network) and a second network connection on the same computer, most likely a wifi interface. This means your computer can have a wired network connection and a wireless wifi interface or it can have two wireless interfaces, one to your network and the second as a hotspot. The hotspot wireless interface can be part of your computer or it can be an accessory such as a USB wifi adapter.
For your computer to be a hotspot, it must also act as a router. Depending on the version of Microsoft Windows or Linux (or other system) you are using, this ability may already be present. It may be as simple as a checkbox to select "Share this network connection with others" or "Allow Other Network Users to Connect through This Computer's Internet Connection" or you may need to install additional software.
