A female mosquito will lay eggs in some form of water. So if you leave a cup outside and it rains and the cup becomes filled the mosquito will lay eggs in it. And there's nothing you can do about them hatching. So if you don't want them in your back yard always dump out containers of water

malaria is caused by a microorganism that infects red blood cells. Mosquitos acquire the germ when biting someone who has malaria. When they bite a second person, they can an often do transmit the infection.

Some viruses are carried by living organisms. They are called vectors. This is the only way that this virus can infect a host.

What does malaria do to the host?

Malaria is a disease which involves a parasitic organism (a type of paramecium) that lives inside mosquitoes for part of its life-cycle and inside human beings for another part of its life-cycle; it is the mosquitoes and the human beings which are serving as host organisms to the parasite. So no, malaria is not a host.

Why does the mosquito spread malaria?

Mosquitoes do not get malaria because malaria is a disease caused in humans by a parasite carried by mosquitoes, Plasmodium spp. When mosquitoes feed off the blood of an infected human, they also absorb the Plasmodium spp parasite. However, the Plasmodium spp. itself is not what causes malaria, and therefore cannot get a mosquito sick. Only when it reacts with the blood in a humans body does it take effect and cause the disease malaria. Mosquitoes then simply act as neutral hosts for the parasite before they land and release the Plasmodium spp. into the next human.

What do mosquitoes use to spread malaria?

Malaria is caused by any one of four species of one-celled parasites, called Plasmodium. The parasite is spread to people by the female Anopheles mosquito, which feeds on human blood. Although four species of malaria parasites can infect humans and cause illness, only malaria caused by Plasmodium falciparum is potentially life-threatening.

How is malaria transmitted?

It is mostly spread by the female Anopheles mosquito. It also can be spread by infected blood.Malaria is spread through mosquitos. They drink a person's blood, and malaria is a blood-borne disease. Malaria is more prevalent in hot and tropical areas.Malaria is spread by female mosquitoes. The parasite which causes malaria is found in the female mosquitoes saliva. When a person is bitten by a female mosquito, the parasite enters the bloodstream via the mosquitoes saliva. However, there are also other ways for malaria to be spread. A pregnant woman can pass malaria onto her baby. Someone using a needle that has been used by a person with malaria can infect that person. Having a blood transfusion from someone who has malaria can also pass it on to someone else. Also if there is a person who used the same toiletries as one who as malaria then it can also be spread that way too, as one or person is using the same thing which means that they are passing each others germs and illnesses to one anotherBy mosquitoesMalaria is an infectious disease which is caused by parasites. Malaria is carried by the female mosquito (not the male), and is found in their saliva. When a mosquito drinks your blood, this parasite can be transferred into your bloodstream. Pregnant women can pass malaria onto their baby and can also be passed if someone has a blood transfusion. Needles used by a person with malaria can also cause the spread of the disease, if someone else uses the same needle without cleaning it properly first.Malaria is transmitted by infected anopheles mosquitoes.

If people come back to the UK with malaria should they stay away from people?

there are pills you can take in order for you not to catch it. i don't remember how it can be spread from human to human, only that you get it from mosquitoes. probably should have yourself checked out if you have it though... but there are ways to not get it.

Are all mosquitoes potential carriers of malaria?

No not all mosquitoes are born with malaria. The only way a mosquito can carry malaria is if it contracts it while drinking the blood of another animal i.e. an infected dog or human host. After the mosquito is infected it can transmit the virus to people very easily hopping from meal to meal on the necks, legs, arms and wherever else it may feed of the nearby population. This is how they cause such widespread panic.

What is the difference between culex and anopheles mosquito?

culex mosquito spread malaria in sparrow but anopheles mosquito spread malaria in human beings.

How does mosquito spread malaria?

Malaria is actually caused by tiny parasites that live inside the mosquitoes, not by the mosquitoes themselves. Plasmodium falciparum, Plasmodium vivax, and Plasmodium ovale are the 3 most common causes of malaria. (All three are commonly called "malarial parasites"--they are closely related species.)When a mosquito first bites a human, it injects some anticoagulants to keep the blood from clotting. If the mosquito happens to be infected with a malarial parasite, the parasite will be injected with the anticoagulants and will then infect the human red blood cells.

Why are mosquito's a menace?

They just are. Period. End of story. :) Mosquitoes are a menace due to the fact that they spread diseases such as malaria, dengue facer and Japanese encephalitis. Mosquito borne diseases are responsible for more human deaths than all the world wars.

What percentage of mosquitoes carry malaria?

There are approximately 460 mosquito species. Of these over 100 can transmit human malaria. Of these 30-40 commonly transmit parasites which cause malaria in humans in areas where it is most prevalent. The single most common carrier is "Anopheles gambiae" which carries the most dangerous malaria parasite species - "Plasmodium falciparum".

Is dengue fever contagious?

Malaria is not contagious. It is a parasitic disease that lives inside female Anopheles mosquitoes. Infected Anopheles mosquitoes infect humans by biting into the skin (with their parasitic saliva) and transferring the disease into the blood cells of the human. Therefore, only infected mosquitoes can infect humans with malaria. ----------------------*EDIT*------------------------------ Malaria is in fact contagious. If you get a blood transfusion from someone with malaria, it is possible it can be passed on to you. But, as far as coughing and touching goes, no.
