Nuclear puts no greenhouse gases to the atmosphere, releases no SOx or NOx to cause acid rain, does not require the dispsal of tonnes of ash (from coal plants), does not use up fuels that can be used in domestic heating, transportation, or as chemical base stocks (gas and oil), does not require the creation of reservoir to provide a head of water which destroys ecosystems and emits methane (hydroelectric)

Radioactivity is not a gas, it is a form of radiant energy. Gamma radiation is just very high energy light, and the others are composed of various subatomic particles.

∙ 13y agoNuclear power produces radioactive waste as a waste product. This is dangerous just to "dump" in the river so it has to be stored over years so that it decays into a stable substance. It affects the surrounding people more than the environment, an example is the Chernobyl disaster in 1986 where the station effectively exploded and the surrounding area suffered massively.

∙ 13y agoWell obviously they provide energy to run a society. However there are many issues on the dangers of the used uranium rods that the power plants have to dispose of. Typically, they store the in massive pools. There is also the danger of a meltdown and fear of another Chernopyl.
