On the right hand side of the latch mechanism and almost behind it, is a hole. insert the tip of a long handled, narrow blade flathead screw driver into that hole in a right to left type of way. pull handle of screwdriver to the left in a prying fashion, which in effect causes the tip (which is in the hole) to move to the right. the hood will then pop up.
