once have ball joint loose have to drill/remove the rivits holding it in, will be replaced with bolts/nuts

YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE TIRE AND REMOVE THE SPINDAL IF IT IS A LOWER BALL JOINT THEN YOU HAVE TO PRESS IT OUT AND PRESS IT BACK IN WITH A BALL JOINT PRESS IF IT IS AN UPPER BALL JOINT THEN YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE UPPER CONTOL ARM AND HAVE THE VEHICLE ALIGNED
Remove the tire and wheel. Remove the brake assembly and rotor. Remove the retaining nut from the ball joint. Pound the ball joint out with a hammer. Reverse the process to install the new ball joint.
Jack the car out and remove the wheel. Remove the ball joint nut. Pound the ball joint out with a sledgehammer. Reverse the process to install the new ball joint
Jack up and support the right front of the vehicle. Remove the wheel/tire. Remove the brake caliper and hang the caliper with a piece of wire out of the way. Remove hub/rotor assembly. Remove backing plate and spindle. Slide out axle assembly. Replace u-joint as you would on a driveshaft. Assemble in reverse order.
Just learned this the hard way today after trying to do it myself. The ball joint will not come out until you remove the brake caliper and rotor. Too time consuming for a do it yourselfer in my opinion...I had the shop down the street replace the ball joint for 1.1 hours labor (about $80).
Remove u-joint clip (CV Joint), remove as an assembly, press bearing out.
