Even thought He was no longer personally and visible with them (the disciples) Jesus did not sever His connection with the disciples. IN one sense, through the Holy Spirit, their union with Jesus was even closer than when He lived with them in Palestine. They knew that He was their Friend and Saviour still, and that before the throne of His Father in heaven He identified with humanity and was preparing places for them. (See John 14:1-3)
All that Jesus was to those first disciples, He wants to be to you! This is evident in His last prayer with the little band of disciples: "Neither pray I for these alone," He said "but for them also which shall believe on me through their word." John 17:20
We receive the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit when we are infused with sanctifying grace, the life of God within us-as, for example, when we receive a sacrament worthily. These seven gifts help us to live a Christian life. The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude (or courage), knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord. The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are given in baptism. We grow in them by practicing virtue throughout our lives and the gifts are sealed in us at confirmation.
COUNSEL
To bring us Gods holy presence and to help and heal us. The holy spirit lays in the heart of his children.
The Sacrament that directly increases the gifts of the Holy Spirit is Confirmation, and all the sacraments, and our good works also contribute to that increase, particularly worth reception of Confession and the Eucharist.
The Holy Spirit is the third member of the Godhead. It is in spirit form and it can influence us by putting thoughts into our minds to help us in what ever we are doing. Joseph was so righteous that he had the Holy Spirit with him all the time to help him fulfill his responsibilites.
for us to be help and to be directed
God has not given any human being to protect us but he has given us his holy spirit. If we pray for it, it will be given to us. The holy spirit is gods force which can be disposed to anyone who askes for it. Note to above: The Holy Spirit is God not just a force and the gifts are given as God's sees fit.
As jesus left the earth he told the disciples that he would send the comforter, in his place to guide and help the disciples.the holy spirit is there to help us.
The promise of God the Father is the Holy Spirit that was sent to comfort us so that we would not be orphans while we wait for Christs' return. The Holy Spirit and the 9 Gifts of the Holy Spirit empower believers in Biblical times and now.
