The tallest US mountain is Mt. McKinley in Alaska, which rises 6,194 meters (20,320 feet). The tallest Middle Eastern mountains are Mt. Damavand in Iran at 5,610 meters (18,406 ft) and Mt. Ararat in Turkey at 5,137 meters (16,854 feet). If only mountains in the 48 continental states are counted, Mt. Whitney in California is the tallest US mountain at 4,421 meters (14,505 feet).
However, outside of Turkey, Iran and northern Iraq, there are few true mountains in the Middle East, unlike the United States which has numerous mountain ranges.
