The blower motor is located above the passenger foot well inside the dashboard below the glovebox. You dont mention the year of your vehicle so I will give you an overview of this for the W210 chassis. I recently changed my blower for $230. it is not that difficult. I understand the dealer charges much more.
It is accessed from the panel above the footwell. With a phillips screwdriver remove two screws holding the panel in. pull the panel down and towards the passenger seat. (you can leave the light wire attatched and lean the cover against the transmission hump. Now you will need a Torx driver to remove 5 torx screws holging the blower cover in place. Disconnect the electrical connection to the fan blower where it meets the blower box. Use the same torx drive to remove the 4 torx screws holding the blower in place.

It's under the passenger side under dash paneling. Their should be two or three screws you need to remove to get the panel down. You'll see the electrical plug going to blower motor. Remove the blower motor cover and you'll have access to blower and regulator.
For my 1996 E320 I purchased a set of removal tools(2) that do removal of both radio and climate control
you access the fan blower by removing the windshield wiper motor from the outside of the car.
From what I know the blower brushes are worn down. Easy fix just do a search for "replacing blower brushes on 85 Mercedes 300D ZaneRen

Remove the wiring harness from the back of your 1986 Lincoln air conditioning blower motor. Remove the blower motor retaining bolts. Remove the fan on the front of the blower motor. Reverse the process to install the new blower motor.
When you press "Auto" on the control panel you may see the a/c graph bars on the panel but the a/c does not work. Replace the "a/c blower regulator." But, also disconnect the a/c blower from the a/c blower regulator and connect it to 12v battery to see if it works (watch your fingers). If it does work the blower does not need to be replaced. If the a/c blower does not work connected to 12v battery you will need to change it. Order one with the harness connector (much easier to connect). Also order the mounting bracket. The AC blower relay can be found under the dashboard on a 318 BMW 2001 model. It is on the passenger side and access is easier if you remove the glovebox on the passenger side.
