The location of the fuses is marked on the fuse block cover. If the cover is gone you can go to the owner's manual to check out what fuses go where.
Buy a haynes manual for the car... good luck.. im doing this right now lol.
Blown fuse is the likely culprit. Could also be a bad switch, fan motor, or resistor pack. ==Do Not Overlook= the Ground wire. I have a 96 escort...had same problem 3 times...fuse is 1st thing to check...then the ground wire (which seems to have separated and shorted out twice now.) Since being discovered and fixed, everything is fine!
if you alternator was locked up .it caused it to jump time. my car done the same thing last week ,now i have to re time it.
there is a fuselink in the battery lead to the starter that likely blew.
i had similar problems mine was a bad crankshaft sensor have the coil pack checked, hopefully it's not that as they tend to be expensive
figured it out! now i have heat.
After removing the positive and negative cable, follow the negative cable to where it's grounded to the wheel well. Remove the end of the cable with the wrench. Track the positive cable to its connection on the driver's side of the engine and remove it with the wrench. Now, attach the new positive cable first and install the negative cable last and start the car to ensure that the connections are working on your Ford Escort.

I HAVE A 1999 FORD ESCORT, THERMOSTAT WAS RECENTLY CHANGED & AN OIL CHANGE WAS DONE, NOW THE CAR STARTS THEN CUTS OUT & NOW WILL NOT START AGAIN, WHAT IS THE PROBLEM? check your mass air flow sensor on the air intake tube off your air box. sometimes ppl forget to plug it back in. without it the engine doesnt know how much air its getting an wont stay running.
Check the fuse.
