The flywheel is between the engine and transmission. It is the large plate with teeth on it that the starter engages to turn your engine over while starting. The engine and transmission must be separated to remove it. Once you have them separated the flywheel is held on usually by 5 bolts attaching it to the engine crankshaft. It is not a simple job and requires several steps to get the engine and transmission apart. Since you are asking the question I'm assuming you don't have much experience in this area so you probably better get some help. Good luck to you.
This varies from car to car. Please re-ask your question stating make model year and engine size.
It is between the engine and the transmission. You have to remove the transmission to replace it.
You will have to pull out the motor and separate the transmission and the engine. There should be 3 or 4 bolts on it that you will have to remove to pull it off. I would use a open ended box wrench on the bolts.
You will either have to remove the transmission and fly-wheel to remove them or you can pull the engine out and then remove them.
Without a flywheel you couldn't even start the engine.
every engine has a fly wheel, which the starter turns. the start looks like two cans together, one is way biger than a soda can, and other is about the same as a soda can lol. if your car is RWD (rear wheel drive) then the starter will defiantly be on the back the engine, if its front wheel drive then it will be on the side, which are a lot harder to remove
On the back between the engine and transmission. You'll have to remove the transmission to see it.
There is 2 of them in the back of the engine. You will have to pull the engine are remove the transmission and fly-wheel to get to them. It is what ever is the easiest for you.
If you are saying the starter turns over but does not turn the engine over, then I would suspect a defective starter solenoid. It is possible the flywheel has a broken tooth but not likely. Remove the starter and have it tested.
if the car is an automatic, there is a problem with your torque converter if it is a standard shift the fly wheel may be out of balance
You will need to remove the transfur case first and then remove the transmission Then just take the bolts out of the fly-wheel on the back of the engine and replace it with the new fly-wheel and then put everything back together. This is a major job if your not a mechanic. You may want to take it to a shop.
support rear of engine. remove drive shaft. remove transmission. remove cluth. remove fly wheel. reinstall is exact opposite of removal
