The flywheel is between the engine and transmission. It is the large plate with teeth on it that the starter engages to turn your engine over while starting. The engine and transmission must be separated to remove it. Once you have them separated the flywheel is held on usually by 5 bolts attaching it to the engine crankshaft. It is not a simple job and requires several steps to get the engine and transmission apart.
