There is a special tool to remove the pump but you can remove it by using 2 screwdrivers that fits in the slots around the pump and turn the big plastic nut, its not easy but I have removed them several times
It is usually fairly simple to remove the boot strut on a BA Falcon. Simply remove the metal clips that are on either end of the strut. If the clips are rusted into place, however, you may need to clean them first.

In the sedan, it's in the boot. Under the Matt on the passenger side you should see an access plate screwed into the floor of the boot. Undo the screws and there she is Unless it's a wagon - then the pump is on the side of the tank like a Commodore!

You will need to remove the boot and such to get to the base of the shifter. I have a 1990 and I had to remove 3 star bolts/screws on the base of the shifter. Once removed, the lever assembly pulled right out.
You do not have to remove it, but doing so will make the boot replacement a whole lot easier. Being able to clamp the axle in a vice is much nicer than trying to work around the front suspension pieces.
remove the console, you should see some screws on the bottom of the boot, remove, replace boot, replace console
remove shifter boot/ 4 screws to floor board remove nut from cross bolt install nut on opposite side of cross bolt and tighten nut cross bolt is tapered, this will remove cross bolt
