having trouble removing the transmission oil pan from a 1998 explorer sport 4x4. need photos.
On the oil pan mounted on the bottom of the engine. If you cannot find it then you have no business changing your own oil. Crawl under the truck and look, and you will find it.
sorry to tell you this but, you have to pull the engine up about three inches to remove the oil pan.

remove front driveshaft , bracket that connects lower a frames remove surpport on rear of oil pan . Remove the 7 bolts that hold differential in place.lower differential down so the cv shafts rest on lower a frames . take out oil pan bolts pan will drop out without jacking up the engine .
I have the manual, and in it it just says to remove the front axle then drop the pan to remove it :( lol Those are the steps, you have to remove the entire front axle assembly to remove the oil pan.
Drain the oil from your oil pan. Remove the oil pan bolts. There are 24 oil pan bolts. The oil pan will come off.
The engine has to be raised up a bunch to get the pan off.
The engine has to be raised up a considerable amount. This is not an easy job. Get a manual on your car from the parts store. Simple job, just remove the oil pan bolts and down it will come. You might have to remove the cross member piece.

You remove the bolts to the oil pan and the pull the oil pan off and the gasket.
