Either remove the trans, or remove the front axle on a 4x4.

you may have a transmission problem. See the axles will break to save the transmission from damage. Or you might need to change the bushings on the suspension.
Check the transmission fluid level (no you cant check it like oil level you need to have it on and in gear (make sure the wheels are blocked and the emergency break is on)). You may want to also check to see if the rubber transmission mount is sagging.
yes
you have to separate engine and transmission
Check the engine mounts. If the engine is not square it will brake them all the time.
pretty much everything will break it is a dodge
Yes it can and will. Using the wrong transmission fluid for your vehicle will most likely blow your seals. If you put a heavier fluid than required it can break the aluminum flaps that control fluid movement.
I believe this is not relevant as the 2.5L engines use timing chains and not timing belts. No required maintenance- no belt to break.
your going to need an engine lift to do this. also getting under the car is required. ;) if you dont want to bother with it ill understand but....else you need to disconnect wires from the engine. any that would restrict it from moving. break lines, sensors, etc the wires/cables generally have different size connectors as to not get mixed up. removing spark plug wires is not needed. unbolt the engine mounts. and remove anything in the way of the engine yes it needs to be pulled out. (usually the radiator) remove any bolts connecting the transmission in place. before pulling out the engine. after the engine is removed you have plenty of space to remove/replace the transmission. reverse steps to finish.
On the Stratus V6 which is an interference engine it will damage the engine if it breaks. On the 4 cylinder which is not an interference engine, no engine damage will be done. However it would stop the engine from running. And, if this happened at a bad time, and you got in a wreck, it could not only damage the engine, it could damage the whole car and you. The belt can break with no warning. Replace it according to the recommendation of Dodge.
Check for a break in the ground wires. There will be several possible break areas. When one of the wires breaks you could lose the ground on the Maxima.
Do not shut the engine off. Simply slip the transmission into neutral and coast over to the break down lane and stop when it is safe to do so, then shut the engine off.
