On my 2000 Boxster it just pulls off the lever.
How do you remove the gear shift knob on a 2000 Daewoo Lanos?
There is a staple on the front of the gearshift just below the knob, remove it and lift the shift knob.
Removing the shift knob is actually very simple if you have the Volvo "Spaceball" setup: Just push down on the knob and rotate it counter clockwise about 90degrees then pull up to remove the knob from the shaft. Depending on what type of shift knob you are replacing it with, installation of the new one may differ. See: http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread.php?136135
It is glued on you have to replace the entire stick shift
how to remove gear shift knob on bmw318

yes it is
The cause of the key sticking in the ignition, after the car is turn off. This is caused by the button on the gear shift knob, not coming out all the way or sticking.
On the 2000 the knob is on a spline on the shift lever. You'll either have to cut it off, or if you want to reuse it take out the lever by unscrewing the nut under the shaft, place the shaft in a vise and pound off the knob with a soft hammer.
there is a little lever you have to switch to the left. It is inside the compartment where the on the bottom where the gear shifter knob comes out.
