On Twitter, you can either send them a message while you're publicly updating (eg. "@Skunk_munchies your plugging yourself!!") or you can click on "direct messages" which is in the menu to the righthand side of the page. You can only send a direct message to people who are following you by either clicking: * the "message" link on the profile page
* the reply icon attached to messages in your direct message inbox
* the drop down box on the direct message inbox page
* the status update box using the direct message command: d + username + message (eg. "d skunk_munchies stop plugging yourself while answering a question")
theres no way to directly email them unless they have their email listed in their bio. if they are following u just DM them because most likely they have it set to get DM notifications to their email.
At the top of your Twitter page, you willl see a tab that says "Messages". Go there and you click the button at the top that says "New Message". Simply type in the username at the top, and your message below it. Remember- it must be less than 140 characters!
To tweet someone, you must simply include their twitter username with the @ prefix, then write your message. For example, if you were to tweet Twitter to thank them for creating the website, it would go as following:
''@Twitter Thanks for creating this wonderful website! Love it!''
on the right hand side of the home page there is a thing that says direct message you click on that and then you choose who you want to send your direct message to.
type in your tweet and send it
This is not possible, try asking the person with a tweet (to send a message directly to someone type @<twittername> before your tweet, however it will still be public, I think). To request to follow someone with a private account, click on follow and a message will be sent to them to either accept or deny your request.
The person you're trying to send a message to has to be following you.
It is impossible to send a DM on Twitter to someone who isn't following you. The user has to follow you before you can send them a DM.
In order to direct message someone they must follow you, and you must follow them. If this is the case, simply type D:theirtwittername and then your message or question??! send it to 40404.
By downloading the free Twitter app. You can then send and receive tweets.

No, someone doesn't have to be there at the same time as you for you to send them a message.
Send them a tweet and ask them nicely.
Click on messages at the top of the screen and click new message . then you type in the persons twitter name and you send them a message . but the have to be following you in order for you to send them a message .
Click on Messages on the top of the page.
Tag them in your tweet! To send anyone a personal message, you need that person to follow you, which is almost impossible for celebrities to follow common people.
You can only send a message and that too the person who follow you. You can however send public messages using the "@" sign or if they are following you use the "D" symbol to send a private direct message.
