There are two ways to play GTA IV original after you have downloaded The Lost and Damned. The first is to load your GTA IV original save. The other way is to Select "New Game" in the pause menu. It should then bring up two buttons, "GTA IV" and "The Lost and Damned". Select GTA IV.

The map for Liberty City Stories is the same as for GTA III, not GTA IV. The map for Episodes From Liberty City (Lost & Damned and Ballad Of Gay Tony) is the same as GTA IV.
Whilst The Lost & Damned is an exciting game, it is much shorter than GTA IV and does not have the same depth as the main game. It is interesting to play GTA IV though and then Episodes From Liberty City, to see where Johnny from LAD and Luis from TBOGT fit into the scheme of things. Although you do not have to play GTA IV to enjoy the spin offs, I would always recommend that it is worth doing so.

From 30 March, Episodes From Liberty City (which includes The Lost & Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony) will be available on disk for PS3 and PC. Each game is also available separately on download.

All you need to do is pause the game while playing The Lost and Damned and go to game/load and load up your Gta IV save game.
The Lost & Damned is a spin-off from GTA IV. It can be obtained as part of GTA: Episodes From Liberty City, which includes The Ballad Of Gay Tony (the two games on one disk). Orginally exclusive to the XBox 360, it is now also available for the PS3 and PC.
