You go to the inn at Stornway and speak to the lady with the blue hair next to Erinn. Then you go on 'recruit friend' and she'll ask you what type of person you want. (A warrior, a priest and a mage is the best party to go for, but it's your choice). Then you create your new party member, and they come out of a door at the left side of the inn. Beware, you can only have a maximum of 3 people added to your party, so choose wisely!

At Stornway inn, talk to Patty, she is the one that helps you recruit new party members. You can create new members here, and either add them to your team, or dismiss existing ones and get them to wait there for you.

The best way I know is to first be a Dragon Amulet holder, and then do the King Braken quest in Osprey Cove as a Dragon Lord/Rider. You get 400 gold for the win (which isn't too terribly difficult I might add) and a weapon that sells for 150. Plus 3001 exp to boot doesn't hurt at all.
