You can adjust the striker pin on the door post with a torx socket. Also, if there is too much slop in the door hinges that can cause problems. The hinges can be repaired with door hinge pin and bushing kits from your local auto parts store.
You will need to loosen and adjust the hinges. They are probably worn out and need replacing. Open the door and lift up on it. If you feel play, then the hinges are worn.
A few years ago an Andersen rep. adjusted my patio swing door and it is now sticking a little again. How can I adjust it? ktjkohler@arvig.net
Check the hinges on the door. They probably need replacing. Open the door and then lift it and see if there is free play in the hinges. There should not be. The latch itself is adjustable so if it is only slightly off, you may be able to adjust it enough so it will latch. You will need to loosen the latch and adjust it even if you replace the hinges.
No door hinges and cabinet hinges are two different things. Door hinges are generally much larger than cabinet hinges. Cabinet hinges and door hinges are not at all the same. They are different sizes and can withstand different amounts of weight.
The bolts go into a plate in the door and the door post, not solid holes in either. The plate will move up and down, side to side a little bit. Loosen the bolts and adjust as needed.
