On the 1.5dCi it's a bit of a pain. There's an idler pulley below the alternator that's adjusted with a metal quadrant held on by 2 T40 torx screws. They are very difficult to get at as the space is so tight. Cheers, Paul
The Renault Clio, year 2002, has a timing belt. I believe some have timing chains but i ain't sure which.
I believe it has a chain instead of a belt. Call your Renault dealer to make sure.

72K miles or 5 years (whichever comes first) for most engines. Get accessories belt (alternator belt) changed too as failure can smash timing belt cover causing belt failure.

Hi, This is indicating that your battery is not charging - and if not sorted, you will find that soon your car will not start or run! Check the alternator belt is in tact -- failing that , you probably need a new alternator ! Rgds , Mike
up to 1998 they have a timing chain,clio 2 have timing belt due for replacment at 72,000 miles or five years.
Standing at the front of the car it is on the left hand end of the engine.
