The majority of time if you adjust the rear brakes it will adjust the park brake.
2005 park brake is a set of brake shoes inside a drum that is part of the brake rotar to adjust u need to raise wheels off the ground then get under neath the vehicle and find the small runner plug on backside of brake you will then need a small flat screw driver or brake adjustment tool to adjust the park brake you adjust the park brake exactly the same as you would adjust any other drum brake
you must first adjust the rear drum brakes. then and only then can you adjust the cable for the parking brake at the base of the park brake pedal/handle. if you don't do the rear drums first, you will stretch the cable
its a self adjusting brake. put parking brake where you want it and put in reverse back up to adjust.

by pulling up on the emergency brake their should be an adjuster below the handle i think it is a 10mm nut
If pressing the brake pedal does not allow a 2002 VW Beetle to shift there a problem with the brake switch. The switch acts as a safety when shifting a vehicle and if it malfunctions the transmission will not be able to shift out of park.
Run the truck backwards to about 10 Mph, hit you brakes very hard. This will adjust your brakes in general.
