You don't. You replace the worn out rear break shoes. If that doesn't do it you need to replace the stretched E brake cable.
Gosh, I hate to respond when I'm not really sure, but most parking brakes adjust either at the rear of the handle in the cab, (remove the plastic console to get at it) or at the rear of the car where the cable that activates the parking brake is located. My suggestion is to pick up a Chilton or Haynes manual at your local parts store. It will describe and show you in detail how to do it. FriPilot
I don't have my Haynes manual at hand, but if memory serves, that switch is down on the transmission. If you pick up a Haynes or Chilton manual, it will show you where it is and how to adjust or replace it.
adjust the shoes
There is an adjustment screw on the side of the throttle body that adjusts how open the throttle body sits.
Remove rear wheels, remove rear drums, the adjusters are located at the 6-oclock position of the backing plate. Adjust as necessary.
Release parking brake. Place transmission in Reverse. Apply brakes very firmly at about 5 mph. Repeat 10 times. That will automatically adjust the parking brake shoes.
how do you adjust parking brake
Kind of hard to describe. Pick up a Haynes or Chilton manual. They have good instructions and photos of this job. FriPilot
The adjustments are pretty obvious on the the top of the transmission under the air intake and exhaust plumbing.
check your cables first, if that's not the case you need to manually re-adjust your parking brakes
How do you adjust the parking brake on a1994 Lumina?
The adjustments are pretty obvious on the the top of the transmission under the air intake and exhaust plumbing.
