WITH A BIG HAMMER
does a 1997 1.5l maxda protege have a timing belt or timing chain. When should i change it.
You can adjust the camshaft on your 1997 Mazda 626 with the camshaft adjustment bolts. You can access the camshaft adjustment bolts by removing the cylinder heads.
Yes, and it must be replaced every 60,000 miles.
That requires a OBDII engine scanner. You can not use a timing light. The timing is computer controlled.
the timing marks are located next to the top left side of the crank pulley
CONSIDERING THEY RUN HYDRAULIC LIFTERS... YES IT HARD.
YOU can if you have an engine scanner. if you have not fooled with the distributor then there is no need to adjust the timing because it is controlled by the ECM / computer. It will adjust it's self.
all timing marks are on the belts and cams. just line them all up and it will be timed
12 degrees BTDC for 2.0L, 10 degrees BTDC for 2.5L.
Well i will try to answer this question for you. I am assuming that you are asking if you can adjust the distrubitor. I belive not to the best of my memory when i replaced mine. So to answer our question, no. I do belive that you can adjust the timing with a computer programer. You can check those out at SLP performance.com And finally if you are asking if there is a timing chain, yes there is.
