How do you ask your coworker to stop wearing awful or too much perfume?

- Too much perfume or even men's cologne is more common in the workplace than some people know. When you see a chance where there is no one else around then talk to her. It is better to be honest in a kind way with this person. You could suggest to them that you find their perfume very strong and although they may not like what you say the human mind retains that info and she will wonder if others find the perfume too strong (and they probably do.) Everyone's body chemistry is different and it's generally the acidic content in the body that can cause even a little perfume to smell too strong. You might suggest to her to go to the 'Body Shop' (if there is one in theUS and try 'White Musk Cologne ..NOT the perfume.' The Body Shop also has other softer scents she could choose from. Perfume counters put out softer scents (always the Cologne or Toilet Water) and NEVER the perfume and here are two good ones: White Shoulders and White Linen. Oddly enough most perfumes that are light in scent have 'white' somewhere in the name.

That's taking the issue a little far, so one wonders why this has become an issue. If your employer has told you to not wear perfume to work, then don't wear it. They probably won't call the police on you, but they can certainly fire you over it.
