What is a bed patient in a hospital called?

The bed patient lies on in the hospital is called a hospital bed. There are different types of hospital beds ranging from Manual hospital beds to Electric Hospital beds. In a Manual hospital bed the functions of the bed like Backrest elevation(in this function we can raise the patient from back up to 70 Degree), Kneerest Elevation (In this function we can elevate the knees up to 45 degrees), Height adjustment ( height of the bed is adjusted from 18-30(lower to higher)) and there is two more functions Trendelenburg and reverse Trendelenburg which is mostly used in ICU Beds, these functions are achieved with a handle at the end of the bed, while in Electric Hospital Bed these functions are controlled by a remote. A Hospital Bed Can be Comfortable?

Do you know what choices you have if you need a hospital bed for home use? Although all hospital beds allow for elevating the head and foot areas, and the height of the bed to be raised or lowered, they do so in different ways. A manual bed has one or two cranks that must be adjusted by hand. Although the cost is lowest for this type of hospital bed, it is practical only in a situation where someone caring for the patient will always be available and has the physical strength to use the cranks. A semi-electric bed has a motor that allows the head and foot areas to be raised automatically by use of hand controls. In this type of bed, the patient can change these elevations easily and without help. However, the height of the bed must still be adjusted by the use of a hand crank. A fully electric bed uses a motor, and corresponding hand controls, to permit elevation of the back and the feet. Unlike a semi-electric bed, however, it also allows the bed height to be changed automatically using the same or an additional motor. This feature can give a patient added independence and be a boon to a caregiver, such as an elderly spouse, who finds it difficult, if not impossible, to use a manual crank to raise and lower the bed. The height of the bed from the floor can be crucial in allowing a patient to get out of bed safely or to transfer to a wheelchair. Cost is, of course, a major consideration in choosing a hospital bed. If the bed is medically required, Medicare, Medicaid and most private insurers may cover all or part of the cost. While a manual bed is the cheapest choice, most insurers, including Medicare, will pay for rental of a semi-electric bed. Fully electric beds are generally not covered. In addition, specialty beds for bariatric patients are available that provide greater weight limits. These also come in manual, semi-electric and fully electric models.
