Once you sign up and get your equipment you can follow these instructions to get it setup and ready to go.
# Connect your Embarq 660 modem to a phone jack in the wall using the phone cord provided. # Connect the yellow/red cable from the modem to the Network Interface Device (NID) located in the back of your PC. # Connect the power supply cable from the modem to the AC wall outlet. # Install a filter in all the other appliances that connects to a phone jack around the house, such as: satellite receivers, caller IDs, fax machines and phones. # Turn on the 660 modem using the power switch located in the back of the modem and wait for the DSL light to turn solid green. # Turn on your computer, open Internet Explorer and follow the instructions on your screen. If you do not get the DSL light in the modem make sure you check the service due date and make sure you DSL has been activated. Usually we activate your account at the due date no later than 7pm.
You can verify if you account has been activated by calling our National Customer Status Center 1-877-677-7596.
If you r account has been activated but the DSL light does not come on the modem, unplug everything inside the house and turn your modem off and back on.
If the DSL light comes on that means that you have a defective filter and needs to be replaced.
If the DSL light does not come on after you unplug everything inside the house, then take the modem, phone cord and power supply and connect the modem into a different jack in a different room in the house.
If you still do not get the DSL in the modem, please let me know and I will be happy to check the provisioning for your account and dispatch a technician if one is needed.
