User level operating systems can work only with one network adapter in the same time. If you are trying to use two you might experience problems with connectivity. Thus if you have only one network adapter connected (either wired or wireless) OS should automatically forward all internet "calls" to the adapter.

Why does your network not assign a network address to the computer?
Either... A) Your computer isn't hooked up to a LAN or Cable Modem. B) Your computer doesn't have a set internet preference (ic. Wireless/Airport, Ethernet, Cable modem etc) or c) Your computer isn't internet ready, it would have to be ancient. xD

I have a wireless router and a wireless network adapter. I have the wireless network adapter (CAT5 not USB) connected to the WAN port on my router. I set the network adapter to connect to the other wireless network, then I can get internet rebroadcast through my router. I use Airlink 101 router and D-link wireless network adapter DD-WRT provides firmware for many types of routers that allows you to setup a wifi router as a bridge or a repeater. Repeater mode will work better as you do not have to assign a static IP address. By flashing your router with this firmware, your basically multiplying the value of your router by 5. Routers that work best for this: older models of linksys, usually a wrt54gs or a wrt54gl, and also buffalo routers, but good luck finding buffalo routers. Hello Mate The wireless area network symbol only shows you that you are connected to your router what you could do is check to make sure your router can access the Internet if not then try turning your router off for 20 minutes it must stay off for the whole 230 minutes or this will not work, the reason i say that is because you are telling the exchange server to assign you a new ip address which in turn will speed your Internet up a slight amount and even allow you access. Why a laptops cannot detect wireless signal?
check whether you have assign IP address for the wireless network manually or not. if you are given IP manually it won't detect any of available networks and you will not able to connect to wifi networks. just go to network and sharing center ( you can right click on network icon in the taskbar and open network sharing center then select your wireless network, then select properties > go to TCP IP V4 and V6 setting and give select obtain IP address automatically. then it will detect the new wifi network and if the wifi network are secured you will ask for the password to connect to it. by giving the password of the wifi network you can connect to your wireless network. in all laptops you will find a wifi button please be aware to switch on your wifi button before you connect.
