The best way is to know where they hang out usually and always have an eagle eye with you to see if they are coming by you. Also running is a good technique or hiding in to the bushes (:
To be honest, I'm not sure if you are asking the right question. Avoiding someone without them knowing it, "without them knowing it" are you referring in public, was a good friend of yours but did something tragic, I'm not sure what you are referring to. But as the question implies, this is a very childish and simplistically selfish way of doing this. If you can't own up to your decisions, then you need to ask someone who can really help you. Such as a counselor. How about you speak to this person and resolve the issue you have with them, or just tell them to leave you alone? That would be the right thing to do.
when avoiding someone in your lessons your not supposed to maintain eye contact, walk quickly when you pass around them or simply use your phone.
If I don't want to be friends with someone I simply avoid them if I can, or just politely ignore them if i can't avoid them.
Avoid them
sometimes people avoid eye contact if they are mad at someone, if they don't like someone, or if they are scared of someone. P.S. Or maybe they are just stupid and crazy
