Texas has several requirements for getting your real estate license. You have to be at least 18 years of age and a legal resident of the State of Texas.

You also need to meet all of these:

"Before applying for a real estate Salesperson License, an individual must first furnish the Commission satisfactory evidence of successfully completing the following education: # Principles of Real Estate core real estate course [60 classroom hours] # Law of Agency core real estate course (30 classroom hours) # Law of Contracts core real estate course (30 classroom hours) # An additional core real estate course (30 classroom hours) # Another four semester (60 classroom)" Plus you need to successfully pass the licensing exam.

See the related links I provided for more information.

The following education is required for a salesperson license:

1. Principles of Real Estate core real estate course [60 classroom hours]

2. Law of Agency core real estate course (30 classroom hours)

3. Law of Contracts core real estate course (30 classroom hours)

4. An additional core real estate course (30 classroom hours)

5. Another four semester (60 classroom) hours in core courses or in related courses acceptable to the Commission. A bachelor's degree or highter from an accredited college or university satisfies all of the "related" education requirements for a salespersons license. A copy of the college transcript awarding the degree must be submitted as evidence of completion of the degree.

6. Effective 09/1/2010 a pre-application education evaluation is no longer available prior to submitting an application. Real estate applicants are no longer required to submit an education evaluation request and receive a notice from the commission that the education requirements have been satisfied prior to submitting an application for a real estate license. The education evaluation request form is eliminated and education course completion documents must be submitted when the application is filed.

To become a real estate salesperson in Texas first you must complete the 210 classroom hours of instruction to apply for a license. If you have taken college courses, many times they can be used towards as many as 60 of the required classroom hours (equivalent to four semester hours). See TREC's website for more information. If TREC will accept your education documents, our 150 hour real estate pre-license package will satisfy the rest of your requirements. If not, you can still easily satisfy your education requirements by taking our full 210 hour real estate pre-license package.

To be eligible to apply for a Broker's License, an individual needs 2 years of active experience, everything for a real estate salesperson (including the Salesperson Annual Education and a 30-hour Brokerage course as part of the 270 core hours), and an additional 630 classroom hours in related courses.
