Before you do anything else, you should try to get into the best school you can that specializes in engineering and graduate with a degree in engineering. Good schools for engineering include the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, the University of California-Berkeley, the University of Michigan and the Georgia Institute of Technology.

After you graduate, or even during your final semester of school, you should seek out an expert in the field who you can work with and learn from, perhaps through an internship. At that point, your chances of securing employment as a successful engineer should be very good.
