A great resource is the pharmacy technician certification board website. They offer information on their programs and how to obtain certifications. I do know that many box pharmacy stores i.e.. CVS, Walgreens, etc. will pay for your certification if you work for them.
You are able to recieve some pharmacy technician training without college experience. However to become a certified pharmacy tecnician you will need to complete the course work program for pharmacy techs and recieve the appropriate certification to work in a pharmacy.
You can be prepared for the exam in as little as three months through self-study. The National Pharmacy Technician exam is held 4 times a year. You don't need to graduate from a Pharmacy Technician school or have a degree to take the exam. All you need is a high school diploma or GED.
I recommend going to your local community college. There are no degree requirements for a pharmacy technician job, however some science and math courses are helpful. If you want to become certified, I suggest visiting www.ptcb.org and looking at the resources and practice tests they have there.

First to become a pharmacy technician I would consult with the local medical/ pharmacy school to see what classes can be started and when. Also ask if there are any other programs in the area.
