ABS doesn't change how you bleed the brakes. Simplest way for one person to do it is this. Get a piece of tubing that will fit over the bleeder screw. Loosen the screw and put the tubing over the bleeder and the other end in a container with enough brake fluid in it to cover the end of the hose. Pump the brake pedal slowly several times and shut the bleeder screw. Start at the rear passenger, rear driver, front passenger, ending with the front drivers. You may only need to do the wheel you have worked on, but if not, you always start at the one furthest from the master cylinder. Always check the master and keep the fluid level above half while pumping the brakes.
Having ABS does not change how you bleed the brakes. Bleed them as you would if it did not have ABS.
you can gravity bleed by opening up bleed valves, pump them up using a someone to open bleeder valves when there is pressure, vacuum bleed with a vacuum pump ,but you might have to use a scan tool to open up abs solenoids to bleed brakes.
You bleed the brakes just like you bleed any other cars brakes, there is no special way to bleed anti-lock brakes.
Loosen the bleed valve
Remove the original brakes and in stall it slowly.
You bleed just like all other calipers ABS is just a computer system for your brakes.
No, the purpose of anti-lock brakes is to prevent your vehicle from skidding in adverse conditions and during an emergency maneuver. The system will pump the brakes for you.
Look to see if there is an electic pump that the fluid lines go to and from, if there is no pump, there is no ABS.
To bleed the ABS brakes on a 1998 Dodge Dakota 4 x 4, two people are needed. One person needs to pump the brakes while the other opens the bleeder and then closes it making sure all air is out of the system.
If no air got into the abs hcu then bleeding the brakes is done just as it would be on other vehicles. If air did get into the hcu or if you disconnected any brake like at the master cylinder or hcu then you will need to take it to a ford dealership to have them bleed the hcu and brakes for you.
You need a 10mm wrench.
Steady application of the brakes. You do not pump the brakes on an ABS fitted vehicle.
