Set the bike up on the center stand if it has one. Make sure that your clutch reservoir is level and remove the top (as level as you can get it). Gain access to your slave cylinder and loosen the bleed valve (just crack it). Now there are a couple different ways you can go about this;
NOTE: 1) Always maintain good fluid level and the master cylinder (clutch lever) so as not to pull more air into the system. 2) Use fresh hydraulic fluid DOT 3 or 4 (should say on the cover of the master cylinder) 3) This would be a good time to flush the entire system with fresh fluid since you are bleeding it anyway.
A) Gravity bleed it, just let the fluid flow from the bleed valve freely until you see the air pass then tighten it down and work the cluch lever until you feel pressure
B) Vacuum bleed it, attach a small hose around the bleed valve that will fit snugly, and use a hand vacuum pump to pull the fluid through the system. A bleeding system like this can be purchased from you local auto parts store.
C) Pressure bleed it, this requires a special cap that attaches to your master cylinder and uses compressed air to force the fluid from the top through the system.
If you have completed one of these steps and you still do not have pressure then either your master or slave cylider is bad. Usually, there will be a tell-tale sign of seepage around the piston of either the slave or master or, your master cylinder reservoir will be empty. Brake fluid does not evaporate. Keep the fluid off of any paited surfaces as it will ruin the paint.
Are you talking about a magna or sabre?
As i believe, from experience of owning one, 1984 is when the hydraulic clutch came into place. You shouldn't need to bleed the clutch on an 83' S10. Not unless its not the stock transmission.
10w40 will do just fine.
check the fuse?

Use for example NGK DPR8EIX-9 or NGK DPR8EA-9 spark plugs.
The brake fluid and clutch reservoir are one and the same on the 1984 model.
Hey Renee==I think you mean engaged. Disengaged would mean the car wouldn't move. I think probably the clutch disc is installed backward. GoodluckJoe
