You don't
Impact wrench. It's the ONLY thing that works.
with a key
Break the window with an iron wrench.
Your will have to loosen up the alternator, and take off the alternator belt from around the crankshaft pulley. To get the crankshaft pulley bolt off, you will have to use in impact wrench on it. Should be on the driver side of the car. Also it is a regular threaded bolt. The torque on it from the factory is around 115lb/ft. You will need a 17mm Impact socket and a good impact wrench. It will not break loose easily if there is rust on it like most that are 20 years old. Even with penetrating oil it will not be an easy job. Use care when working with the crankshaft pulley as it is old and will crack easily as well.
You have to purchase a special pulley puller from Dodge, other wise you will break the pulley when you try to pull it off.
The best method for removing the crankshaft pulley retainer bolt is with an impact gun/wrench. 1. Remove the tire on the driver's side of the car. There is an access slot on the side of the wheelwell where you can insert a socket with an extension onto the bolt and remove it. 2. BOLT SIZE IS 17MM. Use an impact socket, as anything less may split under the impact of the wrench torque. Additionally, there is a specialized tool that is designed to hold the pulley while turning the bolt, but this tool may not be necessary if an impact wrench is used. An indicator that you may need the specialized tool is if the pulley itself rotates as you use the impact wrench in your attempt to remove the bolt.
yes simply break the window
Yes... when the timing belt breaks... the valves will bend and/or break. All Honda's do that!
a safety break
It means the light bulb(s) on the rear break lights have gone out and your rear break lights do not come on when you depress the brake pedal. Just replace both rear break lights and the sensor will go off. This happened on my 2002 Honda Accord.
yes a Honda Accord is more reliable than a Passat. Although Volkswagens are very reliable as well they will cost alot more to fix when they do break down.
Left drivers side kick panel next to the break pedal.
