you have to put redstone dust next to the dispenser then activate the redstone dust somehow, usually by pressure plates

It's a crafting recipe. Put cobblestone everywhere but the middle, and put a bow in the middle.

If you put TNT in a dispenser then activate the dispenser with a redstone current, the TNT will be dispensed already primed and will explode shortly afterwards. This is useful for making automatically reloading cannons and some traps.
Get a creeper egg from the Creative Mode inventory and put it in a dispenser. Then apply redstone current to the dispenser. If you are not in Creative Mode then you will have to wait for a creeper to spawn in the dark.

I've only gotten this to work once. But u put a stack of two or more (it can be any block/item) in a dispenser and power it with a lever or a button. Ex: if I put five string in a dispenser and power it I get 5 string when I power it but when you look in the dispenser, only one is gone. Hope I explained this well!
