Building your own firewood storage ring would require some either a kit, or some serious tools, since most are made from iron. In either case, build or buy, I would review some designs and select the style that I want. Then I would see if it is possible to get the materials myself, or simply just buy one that I can assemble. this depends where you are if you are outside without a fire pit gather a ring of stone (or some other material that is nonflammable and won't melt) make sure there is no way for the fire to escape the ring of stone and start a fire.
