Put as much as you can into the radiator then just drive it. Let the engine heat up and make sure the reservoir has been filled to the mark. As the engine heats up it pushes the air out and as it cools it will pull in coolant from the reservoir. Keep watching the reservoir and keep it filled to the line. Once the vehicle stops pulling in the coolant, the air is out of the system. The air should be out after you drive it two or three times. WRONG!!! Don't drive it without burping it first! Go to ehow.com and look up their article. Believe what you will and certainly feel free to go to whatever extra lengths you feel are important, but the cooling system will take care of itself if you fill the radiator to capacity then keep the reservoir filled.
The cooling system on a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT can be burped by gently squeezing the upper radiator hose. Keep topping the overflow tank until the air is purged.
Locate the plug on the bottom of the radiator to drain it. Put some radiator cleaner in and drain it again.
You need to burp the radiator and cooling system.
the radiator will spew hot water on you
burp the water system that may help
I can generally do it by forcefully squeezing the upper radiator hose several times with both hands.
you need to burp the cooling system
Just playing :-)There are 2 ways of doing this.Step One in both.Fill the radiator & overflow/coolant reservoir with the same 50/50 mixture, and leave the cap off.Leave the radiator cap off, turn the engine on and let it run until the radiator "burps": You will see the coolant level drop and may see or hear a large air bubble come to the top as the system burps. The other way is the same but you also squeeze the upper and lower radiator hose's*** Use Caution Beware the Fan ***Hope This Helps.
Harry Hill's TV Burp was created on 2001-12-22.
Open the radiator cap and pour coolant in. If you're filling an empty system, you'll want to leave the cap off, and run the engine for 30 minutes or so to 'burp' out any air in the system, then top your coolant off again.
Drain the radiator, remove the two bolts on the upper hose (intake manifold) side and remove the thermostat. Install in reverse order and don't forget to burp the system, fill the radiator system and keep squeezing the hose to get the air out otherwise you will overheat.
It will take a little longer for the cooling system thermostat to open up if the heater fan is on. The heater fan and heater core act like a small radiator and disperses heat energy when in operation.
