Garra Rufa Fish are a Turkey wild breed. One must have a great filtration system comprised of a water pump filter, a UV filtration an 03 system, a temperature regulator and an air pump. High ammonia and nitrate levels are a huge factor in killing these fish. The correct filtration system must be working to stop this from happening.

∙ 13y agoAlthough Garra Rufa fish have a very high rate of metabolism, in an aquarium of average quantities of fish they require feeding twice a day, once in the morning and then again in the evening. Spa fish feed throughout the day on dead skin cells during the foot pedicure treatment; however they still do require supplementary nutrients once or twice a week.

∙ 12y agoGarra Rufa will feed on most standard aquarium fish food, if the Garra Rufa are in a spa unit used for foot pedicure treatment then their main source of food is the dead and dry skin that they remove and eat during the therapy. These spa garra rufa fish still require a supplementary food that is usually seaweed based containing added nutrients to help keep the fish happy and healthy. This additional food supplement is only required 1-2 times per week.
