One Answer: I did that successfully. I fed the bunny romaine lettuce, green grapes, peeled baby carrots and water. Keep food out of the draft. Never give chocolate, it's like a poison to them. Also, talk to the bunny: doesn't know what you are saying but shows you are a friend.

Another Answer: The above answer is not really in agreement with what most rabbit and wildlife authorities say. See the related links below for more info. Taking caring of orphaned wild animals is extremely delicate work and should not be attempted by an inexperienced person. If you find abandoned baby rabbits, contact a local rabbit rescue organization, wildlife rehabilitation organization, SPCA, humane society, animal shelter, animal services department of your government, or an experienced rabbit vet. Many people find baby rabbits and think they have been abandoned, but they haven't been! Don't move the babies until you are SURE they've been abandoned!

Well, you shouldn't touch them. If you already have, then put some hay or sticks in front of the nest and just leave it there for 24 hours. If it has been pushed into the nest, the mother is still taking care of them. If it is not pushed into the nest, you can take care of them by syringe-feeding them- but take the needle out first! Feed them cat's milk, if you can, because it provides the necessary nutrition. I am sorry to tell you this- don't be sad- but they most likely won't survive. That's why you really should call animal rescue to see if they can take care of them. I've done this before- we found 4 baby bunnies in my yard, and did the test- the mother had abandoned them- so we took care of them for like a week until animal rescue could take them. I had named them Thumper, CJ, Audrian, and Daisey.

Leave them alone, the mother will care for them.

Many people find wild baby rabbits and think they've been abandoned, but they haven't been. If baby bunnies really have been abandoned, they should be cared for by a professional or experienced person who knows what to do and has all the necessary supplies. Contact a local wildlife rehabilitation organization or rabbit rescue organization, or your regional government's animal services department, or a local humane society or SPCA, or something like that.

See link below for details. To be able to care for it you must first know its age. Baby wild rabbits don't look very different to domesticated rabbits. If it is around the size of your hand, it is about 3 weeks old, and will still be on mother's milk. So if you are hand-rearing it, it may be best to talk to someone who knows what they are doing. If it is any smaller than your palm, its chances won't be good. If you go to a vet or specialist pet shop, you can buy specially formulated rabbit milk. Its chances won't be good, so it is best not to get too attached.

let the mama bunny do it.

is there no mama? then get an empty, uncontaminated eye-drop thing and put instant kitty milk in it and feed them a few drops per day each at the same time each day.

Preferably, NOTHING. Most likely the baby or nest that you've come across is not really abandoned, the mother is probably nearby just waiting for you to leave. If you've already picked the kit up, put it back right where you found it, rebuilding the nest as best you're able, and just keep an eye on it from a safe distance. Check the next day; if the kit seems warm and plump, mom has been around to feed it.

But even if you are sure the mother is dead, hand-rearing a wild baby rabbit is extremely difficult. If not already weaned, most babies will not survive for very long without their mother's milk, and their digestive system will not handle any substitute. In which case, it's often better to just let nature take its course, quietly and gently.
