In the level 'Flooded Valley' you are instructed to catch the large koi. Unfortunately, you cannot actually catch this fish, because it is far too big, but it's purpose in the game is to lead you through the turbulent patch of water, which you cannot sail through otherwise. It drags you on a bit of a long journey, and you need to be wary of obstacles such as trees, and sunken houses, otherwise it will return to where it was originally, and you will have to try again.
