There are drain and fill ports with plugs in them. The plugs have square holes that will fit a 1/2" socket driver.
You can change at least half of the fluid in the rear end at Tuffys.
there in a plug towards the front by the drive line on the rear end, remove the plug if rear end fluid comes out it topped off.if no fluid (rear end) comes out put fluid in it till it starts to drizzle out.reinstall fluid..if the rear end has not had a service or it smells burnt or is black replace gasket clean rear end with brakekleen and top off fluid...
You must remove the big medal plate that is bolted to the back of the rear end housing to change the fluid.
Part of the rear end.
Have you checked the rear end fluid yet? Before jumping to a new rear, I would at least see how the fluid is in the rear end.
If you look at the rear end where the drivershaft bolts to it you will find the plug screewed into the rear end in that area.

get a posi traction rear end and swap it out.
about 4 pints.
When I changed the fluid in mine it took 3 quarts to fill it up. Also if you have a posi-trac rear end you will need to put in a Posi additive. You can get it at Oreillys or AutoZone. If you don't put in the additive the rear end will make a clunking sound when turning.
Axle grease is used for the axle bearings that support the axle shafts. Rear end fluid also known as gear oil which is used in the rear differential to lube the ring and pinion gears.
