Easy: It's behind the glove box
Remove all the junk in your glove box.
Undue the small plastic piston on the right side of the box.
Let the Glove box fall forward..
Press the sides in a little to clear the stops in the back of the box
Now you will see the Cabin filter door.
Squeeze the clips and pull out the cabin filter holder.
Replace the filter in the holder.
Put everything back in reverse order.

The cabin air filter on a 1994 Toyota 4Runner is located behind the glove compartment. It filters are which comes from the outside and air which is recirculated inside the cabin.

I just bought a new cabin air filter at a local auto store for my 2003 4Runner. Cost me $28. I found instructions in the box on how to change it. It took me 10 minuets to do it. Toyota wants $58 to change it.

I'm not sure but on my 2003 4Runner and My 2008 Tundra it's behind the glove box. I bought a TYC Cabin air-filter and instructions came with it on how to change it out. It was very easy.
The cabin filter is behind the glove box. Just squeeze the sides of the glove box and it will hang out. The filter is straight ahead.
I own a 2003 4 runner and the cabin filter is directly behind the glove box. Remove the glove box to get to it. Better yet, go buy the new cabin filter and check the box most come with instructions on how to change the filter
