This is not too bad of a job. Just remove the nuts (There should be 2 that hold the assembly). One of the nuts on mine was rusted bad, so I had to cut through it with a dremmel. Then I used a pickle fork/ joint seperator to separate the old ball joint. Murray's has joint seperator kits as a part of their tool loaner program, so you don't have to buy one just for this job. I slid the new ball joint reassembled and was ready to go!
if you don't have a fork then just take the nuts off and and turn the steering wheel back and forth realy hard and fast and sometimes it will come strait out
you can also look the car up as a Mazda 323 its the same carTry an import auto parts store. The 1989 Tracer shows to be a 1989 MERCURY TRACER-IMPORT. .

To change the fuel pump in a 1989 Mercury Tracer, first ensure the vehicle is safely elevated and disconnect the battery. Remove the fuel tank by unbolting it from its supports and disconnecting the fuel lines and electrical connections. Once the tank is out, access the fuel pump, typically located inside the tank, and replace it with the new pump. Reassemble everything, reconnect the battery, and check for leaks before starting the engine.
timing belt broke?
It is in a housing on the engine end of the upper rad hose. When replacing it make sure the spring is toward the engine.
The orifice tube on a 1989 Mercury Tracer is located in the air conditioning system, specifically within the refrigerant line between the evaporator and the condenser. To access it, you'll typically need to remove the refrigerant lines and the cover on the accumulator. It's important to ensure the A/C system is properly discharged before attempting to locate or replace the orifice tube.
