THE SURROUNDING COVER OF THE INSTRUMNET CLUSTER NEEDS T BE REMOVED, ATHE SAME TIME YOU WILL NEED TO FASTEN A WIRE AROUND THE STEERING COLUMN AND REMOVE THE TWO MOUNTING BOLTS UNDR DASH...MAKE SURE YOU DO NOT ALLOW THE COLUMN TO DROP CAN DAMAGE THE BEARING AND ELECTRICAL
Tose instrument "light Bulbs" are actually "DIODES"... (on the '84 Century Limited at least..I still own it....) I would replace as many as possible while you have it out..think there are about 12-17 of them..
While you have the cluster out and the speed-o cable off..lube it..before replacing...
Be very careful on installing the two column bolts they are fine thread and very esay to cross thread......which a shop did....using a air wrench ...
By the way if you have the "CK Engine" light out and go for smog ck , it will not pass.....there are several "bulbs" that are part of the smog-check system

The dashboard cover must be removed, and then the instrument cluster must be removed. The bulbs can then be swapped out for good ones.
