AnswerDrain the fuel tank, disconnect the fuel tank straps, disconnect the hoses and electrical connector from the fuel pump, use a spanner wrench to loosen the nut securing the pump to the tank. Installation is reversal of removal. Now here is a better idea, cut a hole in the bed of the truck and remove it that way and/or reove the bed of the truck and slide it away from the tank. Your choice!

The best way to change the fuel pump is to take the bed off the truck, it is very simple. You have 6- T-55 screws in your bed remove them. Disconnect the filler hose, it is 3- screws forgot the size. Its a small metric. Remove to gas cap, and take the tail lights out and bulbs. Extremelely easy, its really hard to get the tanks back into place even without fuel. You would need atleast two people to replace it. But all the tool you need is a t-55 hex, i believe a 8m socket and a Phillips screwdriver.

***** ^ is the best answer, but to clarify, the filler neck bolts are 7mm, and all you need to do is unplug the tail light assemble harness located under the rear bumper and the lenses and bulbs can be moved with the box.
