Check out this site: www.elitedubs.com/modules.php?name= Forums&file=viewtopic&p=424 There are clear, detailed photos and step-by-step instructions. Car is a 2001 model, but I'm sure it's similar if not identical for 2002. Good luck! The above link didn't take me to the actual document. I found this link. It is probably the same document, but I am not sure. http://home.comcast.net/~slashpub/headlights/ReplacingHeadlightBulbs.pdf

I've just changed them on a 2000 model. To remove there are three screws....two on the top and one at the side. To get to this one you have to remove the indicator by unhooking the spring retainer at the back. The two at the top are under plastic caps which have to be prised off. There are two cables, one to the lamps and one to the level adjusting motor (if you have this fitted). Undo the cables (you have to squeeze the springs) and the headlight unit should move out. They take a bit of jiggling past the bodywork. Refit in reverse and check adjustment. If you have the adjuster motor this should be removed and fitted to the new units. This is done by twisting the body of the motor (If I remember correctlty it twists clockwise and can require some force. It should twist about quarter turn and then pull out. The adjuster locates in a ball joint inside the lamp housing. Take the rubber seal off from behind the bulb and reach in with fingers to un-hitch it. Leaning the unit backwards gives you some slack to play with. Refit the motor to your new headlight again by manipulating the ball joint together and screwing the motor back in.

NCINSFL - Florida Yes, it isn't that hard, but will take some practice. There are 2 bent prongs that hold the light bulb in. The tooth faces down, and the prongs are positioned paralel to each other. Leave the harness connected as you will use this to wedge it out. With a hook tool (Walmart in tool section $8) position it over one of the prongs. With the other hand, reach in and pull on the harness down towards the tooth while pushing in on the prong. Once you get that side to slide forward a bit, the other will release. Be careful not to touch the bulb if you plant to replace or reuse. They are not something you can buy OTC. These bulbs are made in Germany & they are made to be this color. Aftermarket lights have a yellow tint compared to these. They are comperable to the White Star $20 each. As I work on more porjects with this car, you can read about them on ClubB5.com B6 discussion. My ID is NCINSFL

Instructions are for 2002, but used them on 2005, was exactly the same. My stumbling block was the ring - it goes over the "D" end of the bulb and is screwed on with a slight twist - to take off, turn about 1/8 turn to outside of car (on driver side).
